Atlantic Oval Squid

Mollusk. Atlantic oval squid use rainbow displays of color to communicate with each other, and they can achieve very intense, shimmering hues. Though found at depths up to 18 meters (60 ft), they are also seen close to the surface at night, and seem to be attracted to light. Squid have big eyes, breathe through gills, and have highly developed nervous and circulatory systems. They capture food with their tentacles, and can move backwards quickly by squirting water through a spout below their head. Squid are good swimmers, using their fins, strong muscles, and missile-like bodies to move quickly.
